Couple Celebrates 75th Wedding Anniversary

Who says marriages don’t last anymore? One Rhode Island couple recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary – and they say their marriage has never been stronger. Cranston residents Ann and Robert Gorman first met in the 1940s after Bob returned from fighting in World War II – which isn’t to say the pair immediately hit it off. “I told him to get lost," Ann says. "I was not interested." But Bob persisted, and on April 24th, 1948, the two tied the knot. Now, 75 years and three children later, the lovebirds say they wouldn’t change a thing about their lives. "I think it’s wonderful she put up with me,” says the 98-year-old Bob. Ann, 95, adds, “I’m thinking of going back and doing it over again." They say the key to a long lasting marriage is arguing in the morning and making up at night.
